Moab can quickly be described as "unbelievable rock formations," and the main attraction on this trail is Gemini Bridges. Gemini Bridges are a pair of twin natural bridges that sit not far off this four-wheel drive road and are accessible via an easy hike. The bridges might be a destination, but this trail offers one heck of a journey! On top of being a great beginner road, the beautiful shelf section climbing out the valley, Gooney Bird Rock, other iconic offroad trails, and the overpowering view of the La Sal Mountains make this a trip you don't want to pass up.

I did this trail on 9/25/2024. Since the summer monsoon rains the shelf section deteriorated significantly between the washouts and landslides. The repairs are adequate but the trail is much rougher and narrower in places. The washouts in the sand section near the gooney bird are deep and somewhat worse. I'd say raise the rating to 2.5.

Nice trail! Shelf road is rocky, but reviews are spot on.

Trail is in good condition and as described. There is a huge washout in the middle, but they seem to have established a permanent bypass.

The bottoms of both staircase obstacles (13 and 14) have become slightly eroded and could challenge approach/departure angles - a stock CUV may have problems. Waypoint 8 was a steep uphill section where low range would have been helpful, but was not necessary given some momentum. Once past the Gemini Bridges trailhead, the route becomes an uneventful gravel road.

This is a nice trail to access other trails in the area. The views early on are enjoyable. It's always fun to visit Gooney Bird Rock again.
